Our little house in Sardinia

This is Villa Alba, it is a duplex, our side goes from the very tip of the top to the right veranda column, to the left it reaches the unfinished wall, an orange towel is hanging right in front of it in the balcony rail; the part that stays in the background is my brother's. On the bottom of the picture it is all our property. The sliding door in the middle bottom is the entrance to the basement. That window on the very top is in our "Mansarda" or attic, which is a large finished room. This summer it was the children's bedroom, eventually I might want to transform it into a media/family room.
All those giant stones, and more, where buried in the ground so we put them to good use; plants and bushes will be planted all around them. The entrance and one half of the veranda are at street level, the other half is one story up above the basement entrance.
We hardly ever used the dining are inside, the veranda is where we had all meals and relaxed, here are grandpapa, Marisa, and Michelle enjoying breakfast. In the background you can see the fence, in Sardinia almost all fences are brick with gates for the car and main entrance.

Another look at the breakfast table...
This is the kitchen, the fridge is missing it eventually went right by the wall between the cupboard in the middle, and the drawing of the fireplace on the wall. The island with the extra sink is so practical and useful, I am so glad we planned it that way!!!

This is the dining area, the stairs go to the attic room, and you can see the master bedroom in the background.
Another look at the dining table, it is handmade, and carved with typical Sardinian designs .
An overview of the main floor, the living room is hiding, but thanks to Edwin, who thought the sofa looked better in the middle of nowhere, you can admire it there!!!
Again the dining table, in the background this time is the master bath. Most houses will have a door separating the day zone, from the night zone. Here it is open, there is a small hall with one bedroom on the left, the bathroom and another bedroom to the right.
The island ..........ahhhh!!!

A bit dark, but it's your only chance to see the living room.....with both sofas!!!!! The large door opens to the veranda, and the window to the front of the house and the street.

One thing I have always wanted to do is to have solar panels, this time I pursued it and here are the results; the water gets so hot, that you have to be careful with it, and with six - seven people taking showers at the same time, we never ran out of hot water.

The other side of the veranda...
...another view....
The kids at the computer...
...Michell at the stove....
The yard, the kids are waiting for the mason to prepare some fresh cement in which we would all imprint our hands, a very lovely memento.
The masterpiece!!!! Something that I will treasure!!!
